Career Counseling and Placement Services
Because Dover Business College believes that job placement is as important as the academic program, the College maintains a Career Services and Placement Department staffed with professionals who provide career counseling and placement services to both students and graduates. The Placement Department, which is in daily contact with employers, assists graduates in locating employment throughout the United States. Information on graduate placement and salaries is available at the Placement Office at each campus.
Career and Professional Development
Individual assistance with resumé preparation and job interviewing strategies is an integral part of the educational program, and career fairs and on-campus employer presentations are organized on a regular basis. All students complete Professional Career Development, a course that focuses on exploring career opportunities, the job search process, and interview preparation.
Career Services specialists work with students on an individual basis to obtain internships, where applicable, and full-time positions that are best suited to students' majors, interests, and abilities. Interviews are scheduled in a variety of fields.
Job Placement Strategies
The Placement Department also conducts several pre-internship and/or pre-placement interviews to determine each student’s employment goals. Abilities and preferences and how they relate to current job opportunities are discussed, skills and interests are matched with available opportunities, and interviewing strategies are developed. Appointments are then scheduled for students with companies seeking Dover Business College graduates. These appointments usually are followed by an interview analysis between the student and a member of the Placement Department.
Lifetime Placement Assistance
Dover’s commitment to serving its students does not end with graduation. You also are eligible to receive free lifelong job placement assistance and refresher privileges throughout your career.
Part-Time Employment
Students who are interested in part-time employment at local companies, agencies, or organizations to help defray college costs are encouraged to seek assistance in the Placement Office. |
